FULL TIME!

The game has ended between Cork City and Dundalk. Dundalk win the game 1-0 thanks to a third minute goal from Man of the Match Chris Shields.

A deserved win for Stephen Kenny's side and that win extends their lead to nine points at the top with a game in hand as well

Dundalk were much the better side over the full ninety minutes and huge performances from Chris Shields and the Dundalk defence send the Dundalk fans home happy.

Thank you for joining me for the match tonight and safe home to all fans of both sides this evening.

90' + 1'

87'

Dundalk look so comfortable passing the ball around the middle of the pitch as we enter the final three minutes of normal time.

86'

Substitution

Dean Jarvis replaces Robbie Benson for Dundalk.

77'

John Mountney looking for the second goal for his side with thirteen minutes remaining. A free kick straight over the wall from thirty five yards goes close but McNulty watches it alll the way

75'

Substitution

Jamie McGrath replaces Patrick McEleney for Dundalk.

72'

Substitution

Shane Daly-Butz replaces Graham Cummins for Cork City. The long ball tactic to Cummins hasn't worked at all this evening for Cork and he is replaced with eighteen minutes remaining.

70'

Twenty minutes remain for Cork to turn this game around and keep this title race alive for another week or two at least.

They are having a much better spell retaining the ball at the moment as they try to create an opening but it is all from distance and nothing close to goal to even worry Rogers

70'

Yellow Card

Conor McCarthy is booked for Cork City.

68'

Just as I say that John Mountney almost catches McNulty out in the Cork goal. He edges past McLoughin with McNulty very slow in collecting the ball. Mountney almost nicks it off his foot before he picks it up but McNulty gets there just before him

67'

Much better few minutes for Cork. They are retaining the ball better and trying to spread the ball across the pitch and create chances.

61'

Substitution

Rónán Coughlan replaces Garry Buckley for Cork City.

60'

Dundalk will be delighted to continue playing against Cork like this as they continue to play the long ball over the top to try and reach Cummins on his own

55'

Yellow Card

Graham Cummins is booked for Cork City.

55'

Chris Shields showing all of his experience in the last few minutes, takes the ball down calmly as Dundalk are under pressure and heads it calmly back to Rogers to ease the pressue on the away side.

Graham Cummins is booked for Cork after a heavy challenge on Sean Hoare

53'

McLoughlin sends an aimless ball long and over the top to give the ball straight back to Dundalk and Gary Rogers

50'

A reminder that if the game remains as it is Dundalk would stretch their lead at the top to nine points with a game in hand. This game in hand will be a home game againt Derry City.

46'

Second Half

The second half between Cork City and Dundalk has started.

45'

Half Time

It is half-time between Cork City and Dundalk. Chris Shield's goal in the third minute is the difference at the break in a half that Dundalk have dominated and looked comfortable.

They have dealt with any of the Cork attacks comfortably and have limited Sadlier and Cummins to shots from distance.

Cork had a penalty claim early in the half when Gartland looked to have been quite heavy handed with his arms wrapped around Graham Cummins in the box. Neil Doyle waved it away to leave the game at 1-0.

Coffee time! Join us again in 15 minutes!

45'

Sadlier takes the ball down the left wing but again hits his cross straight to Rogers

Chance for Dundalk!! - Duffy beats Beattie for pace and looks up to find Hoban unmarked at the back post. He lifts a deep cross to Hoban who attempts a spectacular kick in mid air but doesn't catch it right at all and McNulty collects

40'

Yellow Card

Patrick McEleney is booked for Dundalk. Harsh booking for the Dundalk man for his foul on Stephen Beattie.

Stephen Kenny not happy at all on the touchline close to where the foul was commited. McEleney challenged Beattie as he sent the ball up the pitch, tough challlenge but a harsh yellow

Roy Keane sitting in the stands won't see anything wrong with that challenge either!

39'

Morrissey slips as he gets his shot away and the ball sails high and over the bar. They are finding it hard to get anything to fall rightly for them at the moment

35'

good chance for Stephen Beattie, ball played right across to him from a throw in between Morrissey and Buckley but Massey is very sharp and throws himself in front of the shot to clear for Dundalk

33'

Cork struggling to create any real chances with Rogers yet to really be tested seriously

Dundalk looking comfortable and playing football that little bit easier at the moment

25'

Duffy attempts to swing a shot across goal and into the top corner but he doesn't judge it properly and it sails wide

Free kick close to goal for Cork City. Sadlier stands over it and hits his effort low and straight but its another routine save for Rodgers

23'

Beattie very late on Michael Duffy with a tackle. No card but he gets a talking to by Neil Doyle

21'

Better from Cork. Neat triangle of passes between Cummins, Buckley and Morrissey leaves Morrisey closest to goal to unleash a shot but it's a weak effort which Rodgers collects.

Water break as Benson receives treatment for a ball straight to the face

18'

Dundalk looking comfortable in all areas of the pitch at the moment

Duffy breaks down the left and uses his pace to run into space down the left.

Griffin gets a vital last ditch clearance away but Dundalk have it back

Gannon attempts a shot from distance but it's blocked down by McCormack

16'

Sadlier weaves himself into a narrow space in the corner and swings a cross into the Dundalk box but it's dealt with calmly by Rodgers

13'

Dundalk are passing the ball around confidently and its clear to see they are a team with their tails up at the moment

10'

Cork settling into the game better now. Massey with a heavy challlenge on Beattie on the right wing

Free for Cork City but its cleared well by Dundalk

7'

Penalty claim denied for Cork!! A corner for Cork swung into the box, strong battle between Cummins and Gartland as the ball comes across deep into the box.

Gartland takes a huge risk and has his hands all over Cummins who goes down in the box but the referee who is close enough waves it away.

Harsh enough on Cummins

5'

Dundalk chance!! Almost a second for Dundalk, great link up play down the left between Massey and Hoban again. Massey sets off on one of his trademark runs to the line and drills a cross straight across the box but Duffy can't get to it quick enough

3'

GOAL!

Chris Shields scores for Dundalk. What a start for Dundalk inside three minutes. Chris Shields and Pat Hoban link up well just on the edge of the box. Hoban loses possesion of the ball but it's straight into the path of Shiels who doesn't get the best of shots away but its enough to dribble across the line and give the Lilywhites the lead! Game on!

3'

Cummins played through on goal by Buckley but he is flagged offside. A frantic opening few minutes here

1'
