Updates by

Jump to Lineups
90' + 2'

A facile victory for Stephen Kenny's men whose only worries now are the possible injuries to Benson and Ciarán O'Connor. Caoimhin Reilly's excellent report will be online soon. From me Tom O'Connor oíche mhaith and we hope that you'll join us again in the near future!

90' + 2'

CLOSE!!

Poynton's angled free kick from deep is headed just wide of the top corner by Gartland. He'd have loved a goal on his return to Oriel!

Cummins is also on the right wing as he replaced Hurley.

85'

Noel Cummins replaces Dean Hurley for Crumlin United.

85'

83'

CORNERS!

Dundalk win two in a but Crumlin eventually clear and Conlon hammers the ball upfield. He hasn't had a chance tonight with any of the goals.

SWITCHES UPDATE (Delayed!)

Stephen Kelly has directly replaced Kenna at the heart of the Crumlin defence.

78'

GOAL!

Chris Shields scores for Dundalk- yes that's not a misprint! Ubaezuono crossed from the left and the onrushing Shields swatted a left foot effort into the net from around the penalty spot.

74'

GOAL!

Keane plundered down the right wing and the younger O'Connor brother floated a header into the top corner from 12 yards out. He's been up front for less than five minutes and has now scored twice in a week, along with making his Champions League debut. Not bad for a lad who just turned 18 this summer.

73'

CORNER!

Early skills from Dalton on the right wing earns a corner for Dundalk. The U19 winger did well there.

SWITCHES UPDATE

Dalton is on the right wing and Michael O'Connor slots up front to replace his brother.

70'

Substitution

Stephen Kelly replaces Ciaran Kenna for Crumlin United.

69'

Substitution

Keith Dalton replaces Ciaran O'Connor for Dundalk.

68'

ALMOST FOUR!

A glorious cross from Ubaezuono just glances off the forehead of the stretching Dean Shiels and drifts wide from 8 yards.

63'

SWITCHES!

Mc Guinness has gone up front to support Murphy with Hurley shifted to the right wing

Keane has moved to right back and Poynton replaces Benson in the middle as Gartland drops into the centre of the defence.

60'

Substitution

Danny McGuinness replaces Daniel Kelly for Crumlin United.

58'

Substitution

Brian Gartland replaces Robbie Benson for Dundalk.

56'

CRUNCH!

Benson hobbles off after a mifield challenge and is away up the tunnel with the physio. Gartland is on the way to the action.

NUTMEG ALERT!

Ubaezuono skips through midfield and leaves Murray almost peering through his legs as the flying winger was eventually crowded out in the box. Applause all around.

52'

CRUMLIN CHANCES!

A few half efforts for the team from Captain's Road men as they win a corner and dance around the Dundalk penalty area but they're crowded out.

48'

Crumlin's 4-5-1 has Forsyth and Coone on the defensive flanks, Murray and Kenna in the centre and Dean Hurley is up top. Daniel Kelly and Mc Greal are the wingers.

46'

Second Half

The second half between Crumlin United and Dundalk has started.

45'

As comfortable a half of football as I've seen Dundalk play this season. Crumlin are organised but Dundalk are a step above.

45'

Half Time

It is half-time between Crumlin United and Dundalk.

44'

GOAL!

Footballing masterclass!

Ubaezuono clipped a delightful ball across the box, Ciarán O' Connor stepped over the ball and Dean Shiels sidefooted low into the net from 15 yards out.

44'

PENALTY SHOUT!

Ciarán O'Connor goes tumbling in the box but Robert Rogers isn't interested and signals for a goal kick.

41'

ALMOST THE OG BUTTON!

A whipped cross from the left was met by a flailing Kenna boot and the ball whistled wide of the post.

CROSSBAR!

From the corner a bout of ping pong in the box saw the ball crash off the Crumlin crossbar and rebound to safety. A double let off for Martin Loughran's men.

38'

ALMOST 3!

Super last ditch defending by Crumlin as first Ubaezuono and then Ciarán O'Connor are denied by sliding challenges which are perfectly timed. They needed to be or the referee was blowing for a penalty.

34'

Michael O Connor, who scored for the Republic of Ireland U18s at the weekend shows his class by skipping inside Forsyth and swinging in a cross which just evaded Ubaezuono.

Crunch!

Hurley fouls Barrett in midifeld but both emerge unscathed from the collision and Dundalk hold possession from the free kick.

30'

This has been easy for Dundalk so far. Paddy Barrett doesn't do tap ins and Chris Shields rarely scores. It's been a quiet home debut for Dean Shiels as he's now dropping deep to look for the ball as Benson goes to 10.

25'

GOAL!

Paddy Barrett scores for Dundalk. Benson threaded in a low free kick and was met by the run of Barrett who guided the ball into the net off both posts from 12 yards. A fantastic finish from the defender! Such vision from Benson and composure from a central defender!

25'

SAVE!

Benson freekick on the endline finds Paddy Barrett but the defender heads straight at Conlon.

Another Save!

Ubaezuono cuts in off the left flank and fizzes a 20 yarder but Conlon stretches to palm the ball over the crossbar. Superb play!

22'

CLOSE!!!!

Ubaezuono released Grimes and his drived cross just evaded the sliding Ciarán O'Connor and is poked out of play. Dundalk corner.

20'

Robbie Benson is a step above tonight. He's controlling the tempo of Dundalk's play and covering when needed. The glamour of European football is one thing but the Athlone man is equally as comfortable here tonight as he is involved in a move down the left which sees the marauding Grimes have a cross blocked by the defence,

16'

This has almost a training ground feel to it as the crowd are somewhat muted and Dundalk are content to pass through Crumlin's midfield. It's going to be a long night for the travelling side (who are technically the home side in this fixture)

12'

A rare goal from tonight's skipper- not quite in his midfield partner's league yet but one to be proud of all the same! Crumlin are content to play the ball long while Dundalk are passing the ball at every opportunity.

8'

GOAL!

Chris Shields scores for Dundalk! Ciarán O'Connor skipped down the right and pulled a cross back into the box, Benson stepped over the ball and Chris Shields stepped up to crash a left footed shot into the roof of the net from the edge of the box- lovely finish from the midfielder!

5'

Dundalk neat and tidy in the opening exchanges with Alan Keane partnering Barrett in central defence and Poynton at right back. Shields and Benson are in the middle with Shiels at the tip of midfield, Ubaezuono on the left wing, Michael  O Connor on the right and Ciarán O Connor up front.

1'

GAME ON!

The game between Crumlin United and Dundalk has kicked off.

0'

There is a decent crowd here so far as they await the home debuts of Alan Keane and Dean Shiels. Keane scored a belter here in his last game against Dundalk as he arrowed a shot into the top corner- more of that tonight would be well received by the home crowd! Kick off is rapidly approaching here.
