SHELBOURNE
Shelbourne will be hoping to make it two cup victories in four days as they welcome UCD to Tolka Park on Tuesday night. This Leinster Senior Cup tie should see Johnny McDonnell use some of his squads fringe players.
The club have confirmed that once again out through injury will be Glenn Cronin and Paul Crowley but with no other injury worries the Reds can go into this game in confident mood.
The last time these two sides met Shelbourne ran out 2-0 winners and after netting three goals against non league Bandon AFC in the FAI cup the team occupying the bottom of the Premier Division may finally believe that they can put together a run of form.
If the North Dublin club were to come away victorious it would be the first time that they had put together back to back victories this season.
UCD
UCD are in danger of entering another poor run of form if they don’t improve on the nine goals that they conceded to Pats over the course of their last two games. These heavy defeats are just what manager Martin Russell does not need as the season heads towards the mid season interval.
There are only two injuries for the students with Sean Russell and Mark Langtry still sidelined. With both teams expected to field weakened sides it shall be interesting to see if Martin Russell does indeed give an opportunity to some of the U19 squad who made a strong showing in this seasons U19 league.
Martin Russell, "This game gives us the opportunity to assess some of the group that need to play, so it makes this cup tie interesting in many ways."
