FULL TIME!

Full-time in Drogheda, the imperious Sligo have been beaten. Drogheda will go to the Showgrounds on Monday night with a two goal advantage and more importantly they haven't conceded.

90' + 1'

Substitution

Evan McMillan replaces Gavin Peers for Sligo Rovers.

90'

Drogheda should have killed the tie here as Gannon crossed from the the right and Ryan Brennan flashed a header just wide.

87'

Alan McNally comes on for his second appearance this season as Alan Byrne looks to have picked up a knock.

87'

Substitution

Alan McNally replaces Alan Byrne for Drogheda United.

85'

Sligo are dominating midfield, but they just can't do anything in the final third as Paul O'Conor and Cassidy have dropped back to help out Prendergast and Byrne.

84'

Drogheda are now constantly trying to pick out Gavin Brennan down the left.

82'

Typical as i say, no signs of a change and Rusk comes on. He has moved out to the right wing to bulk up the midfield.

81'

Substitution

Graham Rusk replaces Declan O'Brien for Drogheda United.

80'

There are no signs of a change from the Drogheda bench, although no-one looks tired but it's real backs to the wall stuff here from Drogheda, Sligo are throwing everything forward at the moment.

77'

Gavin Brennan is up-ended on the edge of the Sligo box and the ref waves play-on but there was no advantage for the Boynesiders.

72'

Substitution

Lee Lynch replaces Ryan Connolly for Sligo Rovers.

71'

Sligo are getting the majority of the decisions now and it seems to be spurring them on. From a corner on the left Millien picks out Elding at the far post and the striker hits the target with his header but it's too soft and Sava can get down and save, again he was five yards out and should have powered it home.

67'

Drogheda are playing a bit deeper now in the hopes of counter-attacking, Millien has gone wide on the right and the battle between him and Grimes should be interesting, both being quite pacey.

65'

Sligo have come to life and have forced two quick corners but again the deliveries aren't hitting the right places.

65'

The sight of Pascal Millien is sure to send shivers down the spine of a few Drogs, he dominated in the 4-1 defeat at the Showgrounds last season.

64'

Substitution

Pascal Millien replaces Kieran Djilali for Sligo Rovers.

60'

Sligo are getting careless and Alan Keane gives away a free wide on the right wing and once again Cassidy sends in a great ball but it's headed behind for a corner. but Drogheda can't capitalise and Sligo manage to break and Djilali gets wgat could only be his second touch of the game but he races at a retreating defence and plays Greene through on the overlap but Paul O'Conor gets back to toe poke the ball away and Sava tries to prevent the corner but fails and Sligo simply overhit the set-piece.

58'

It's all Drogheda here as Paul O'Conor is the latest to try his luck from long range, but he scuffs his shot and it drags harmlessly wide.

56'

You never let the ball bounce, never and indecision in the Sligo defence see's a long ball bounce into the path of Gavin Brennan who tries a shot from long range but it drifted just wide, Gary Rogers had it covered though.

55'

Sligo are looking frustrated some nice composed passing in midfield is wasted by a what appeared to be a shot but from the half-way line and Sava could easily gather .

53'

Gavin Peers seemed to go asleep as Gary Rogers rolled the ball out to the centre back he let it run and Gavin Brennan came racing in but his shot was more a tame pass back to Rogers, massive let off for the visitors.

52'

Yellow Card

Shane Grimes is booked for Drogheda United.

49'

Peers gets away with a howler as Gavin Brennan blocked an Alan Keane clearance and Peers allowed it bounce over his head and Gary O'Neill almost stole in.

47'

Sligo have it all to do, away goals count, so even if they could nick one it would be massive. Drogheda haven't kept a clean sheet all season.

46'

Second Half

No changes to either side and Drogheda re-start the game.

45' + 2'

Half Time

Half-time here, clearly Mick Cooke will be the happier manager, but Sligo are capable of netting a few, it should make for an intriguing second-half clash here.

45'

Half Time

It is half-time between Drogheda United and Sligo Rovers.

45'

A dangerous pass from Cassidy to Gannon allows Ventre to press and he almost steals the ball on the edge of the box, but his tackle puts the ball out for a Drogheda throw. The Boynesiders can't afford to be lax here.

41'

Sligo once again try their luck down the left, this time Davoren in an advanced position and his cross forces Prendergast to take control and head behind for a corner, despite Sava coming to claim. Probably the right decision. But make no mistake, Drogheda in the ascendancy here. Still with Elding lurking Sligo are far from out of this.

36'

Yellow Card

It's real deja vu stuff here as Drogheda take the lead and Sligo are now visibly rocked. Either Ventre or Peers has been carded for a rash foul as Drogheda continue to try route one. Gary O'Neill wants a second.

35'

GOAL!

Who says route one football isn't attractive, Sava boots the ball upfield and Gavin Brenann controls and then dinks a ball over the top for Cassidy to run onto and the midfielder spots Rogers off his line and deftly lobs the keeper, fantastic goal.

32'

A long ball over the top see's Gary O'Neill round Davoren and bear down on goal but Jeff Henderson gets back to block the cross and concede a corner. Cassidy again takes the set-piece and the ball is headed out to Gavin Brennan who fancies his chances from 23 yards out but with Rogers diving the ball goes high and over the bar.

30'

Sligo have been using their left wing more with Ryan Connolly seeing a lot of the ball, Kieran Dijiali has to work with scraps on the other wing however.

27'

Sligo aren't rocked, despite this being only the third goal they have conceded all season and possibly the first time they have trailed in a match. Drogheda are much more buoyant at the moment. Alan Byrne is having a stormer, playing as a more defensive midfielder.

24'

GOAL!

A long throw into the box by Alan Byrne saw Peers attempt a headed clearance but it only went as far as O'Neill and the striker, so used to playing with his back to goal, hit a spectacular overhead kick to leave Gary Rogers with no chance.

22'

A glaring miss from Sligo as they start to up the pace, from midfield Ryan Connolly picks up a loose ball and breaks down the left wing and Aaron Greene takes off on the overlap, Connolly plays in Greene and he gets to the byline and crosses for an unmarked Anthony Elding and the prolific striker manages to head the ball across the face of goal and wide, it really would have been easier to score.

17'

From one goal to another as Sligo win a free on the edge of the box, Danny Ventre spotted that Sava had drifted a little to the right in his goal and whipped a curling shot in and the Italian rather unorthadoxly boots the balll off the line, I'd like to think he was un-sighted for that one.

15'

Drogheda's first chance to really move the ball, and both Brennan's combine but the cross from Ryan is deflected behind. From the corner David Cassidy plays an inviting ball in which Derek Prendergast heads toward goal but David Cawley was back hugging the post and managed to head the ball off the line.

12'

There will be an interesting battle between the big men as Anthony Elding and Alan Byrne are getting very familiar with each other. But at the moment the majority of play is happening in the middle of the park with Sligo edging it at the moment. Still only one chance registered for either side.

8'

There may be 2 extra refs on the goal line, but Mark Courtney is making sure everyone know's who is running the show and he is blowing for all fouls for both sides.

5'

A tame opening until Aaron Greene fires in a long range effort only to see it come back off the cross bar with Sava diving but never going to get there. Sligo are playing with all the confidence of a team in their current position.

A nice crowd here as the teams come out, the travelling contingent are making themselves heard. Sligo are all looking Kildare-esque all in white and Drogheda are in their traditional claret and blue.

It's a beautiful evening here in the North East, the weather is condusive to some really good football. With Drogheda playing away their last 2 games the pitch has had time to recover and looks in good nick.
