Live Updates for Shelbourne -v- Shamrock Rovers

Updates by

Jump to Lineups
90' + 5'

FULL TIME!

Good result for Shels. Rovers dominant in large parts, but failed to create any clear chances. Shels on the balance of chances should probably have notched, but they didnt, Rovers didn't and they share the spoils.

90' + 5'

lasst despairing chance for Rovers as Sheppard heads a Mark Quigley cross wide. Just on the whistle now.

90' + 3'

Rovers pressure has dwindled in the last few minutes, as Shels seem to have settled across the midfield.

90' + 1'

Philly Hughes played in Dean Kelly who was on his own at the far post, but his shot was well blocked by Pat Sullivan. Another good chance.

89'

Shamrock Rovers really pressing now, but have not further tested Burdon, Shels stretched to the limit.

86'

Neat turn from McCabe, but his shot just fizzed by the far post for Shamrock Rovers.

85'

Substitution

Pat Flynn replaces Stephen Hurley for Shelbourne.

83'

two outstanding point blank saves from Niall Burdon! both from Karl Sheppard first he punched away, and then when the ball cam back in he palmed it behind the post. Rovers high up the park now.

82'

Substitution

Alex Prizeman replaces Adam Hanlon for Shelbourne.

81'

Rovers are starting to press strongly now. Can Shelbourne nick one on the break?

79'

Substitution

Karl Sheppard replaces Ciaran Kilduff for Shamrock Rovers.

78'

Nice move by Shels, Hughes found Dean Kelly out wide, who in turn played in Mark Leech for a one two with Hughes, however Leech's final effort was way over the bar.

75'

Last 15 now and without a real clear cut chance in the second half bar the Philly Hughes miss. For all Rovers dominance, particularly in the second half,  they haven't had a clear cut chance all game.

71'

Substitution

Billy Dennehy replaces Sean O'Connor for Shamrock Rovers.

68'

The game has got a lot more exciting in the last few minutes, no new goal chancves but lots of battling challenges in the midfield.

66'

Nice move by Shelbourne and Dean Kelly and Mark Leech in particular almost seen the latter with an easy tap in, only for Conor Powell to block on the line

66'

Yellow Card

Shelbourne's Robert Bayly is booked for a tackle on Gary McCabe.

65'

momentaery lapse in connection there, game still going and starting to get heated now

61'

Substitution

Mark Quigley replaces Shane Robinson for Shamrock Rovers.

60'

Nearly a terrible mix up for Shels. Burdon came and didnt collect, Shels managed to clear.

57'

I do not believe it. Philly Hughes from 12 yards after Adam Hanlon blocks Barry Murphy's kick, no goalkeeper and on the volley, but he puts it over the bar. What a chance.

57'

Substitution

Mark Leech replaces Sean Brennan for Shelbourne.

54'

Nice play from Shelbourne there, as a Rob Cornwall cross is headed towards by Dean Kelly, but the strikers header just beats the far post.

53'

Bit or a ret here for Shelbourne as they break up the Rovers play and earn a goal kick. Rovers have been dominant since the break.

51'

Shels havent really got on the ball since the second half began. Rovers have had most of the possession, but we are no closer to the elusive first goal.

48'

Shamrock Rovers have started the second half smartly and are looking to take the game to Shelbourne.

46'

Second Half

The Second Half is underway here at Tolka Park.

45' + 2'

Half Time

Decent first half, good chances for both, half time now.

45' + 1'

Attendance announced here in Tolka as 1704. Nt bad for a televised game

45'

Two minutes to be added.

43'

Another scuffed effort inn a good position for Rovers as Gary mcCabe fluffs his effort from the corner of the box. The pitch is starting to cut up a bit.

40'

Another great save from Burdon as he blocked a Gary McCabe shot, turning it behind for a corner, which was subsequently cleared.

38'

Great saving tackle from Ian Ryan there for Shelbourne as Gary McCabe slipped by him, Ryan recovered well to stop McCabe getting a shot on goal.

35'

Shels have picked up the pace in the past few minutes and are looking to get Phillip Hughes involved more often. Ronan Finn has just put the ball into the chipper van behind the goal, great accuracy.

30'

Another save from Niall Burdon, this time from another Ronan Finn effort. The Shels keeper has been in stellar form so far.

28'

Two great claims from Niall Burdon, first from the feet of Ciaran Kilduff and then from the feet of Ronan Finn.

26'

In a bit of a lull period here in the game, but Shamrock Rovers have certainly come into the game more in the last ten minutes or so

24'

A couple of hefty challenges there by Shelbournes back four, the ball eventually drops to Ronan Finn for Rovers and his volley is well claimed by Burdon.

21'

Decent chance there from Shane Robinson for the Hoops, but he scuffs it and it rolls into the arms of Burdon.

20'

Good opening twenty minutes, Shels shading it in terms of chances, but possession has been pretty sloppy by both sides.

17'

Sean Brennan clears a succesion of Shamrock Rovers corners from the front post. Conor Powell then tries his look from 20 yards.

15'

Another good chance there fro Shelbourne. Neat play in the midfield released Sean Brennan who ran at the Rovers back four, but his left foot shot ran wide,

13'

Nice build up there fro Shelbourne, however a dfeep Stephen Hurley cross is headed over the bar at the back post by Dean Kelly. Kelly looks fairly lively down this left side.

11'

A Shamrock Rovers corner eventually finds its way to Niall Burdon in the Shelbourne goal.

9'

It's been a decent enough start here in Tolka Park, bar the chance for Dean Kelly nothing of note has really happened for either side.

6'

Another easy claim for Niall Burdon from a Rovers cross.

4'

Stoppage in play here as Shelbourne player Sean Brennan is down injured. Shel's have started well, Rovers sloppily.

2'

What a chance for Shels! A scrappy back pass from Ken Oman lands Barry Murphy in trouble, Dean Kelly blocks down the keepers kick and just before Kelly rolls it into the net, Barry Murphy recovers to grab the ball. Nearly a disaster start for the Hoops.

1'

Early cross there from Gary McCabe punched out of the Shel's area by 'keeper Niall Burdon.

1'

GAME ON!

We're underway here at Tolka Park.

0'

Just 15 minutes until kick off. Players out and the pitch warming up, and when I tell you it's cold, it's freezing.

0'

In terms of the home team, Glenn Cronin misses out despite being considered for a starting spot. Ian Ryan will captain the team, Dean Kelly and Phillip Hughes will lead the line.

0'

Teams are in. looks like Conor McCormack will be at the back for Rovers, as they play with 4-5-1. Gary McCabe and Sean O'Connor will be fully expected to give width and support the lone striker Ciaran Kilduff.

0'

Team news will be with you when it is with us! Interested to see how Shamrock Rovers defence lines out with Jason McGuinness, Derek Foran and David Elebert all out. For Shelbourne, Glenn Cronin is fit again, but Graham Gartland and Paul Crowley remain suspended.
