FULL TIME!

Shamrock Rovers win 4-1 and advance to the final of the EA Sports Cup. They will play Drogheda United. Final will take place on 22nd of September. Thanks for following our updates tonight - hope they were informative.

90' + 2'
A great run by Billy Dennehy is rewarded with a goal after an excellent pass by man of the match Ciarán Kilduff. 4-1 to the Hoops in injury time.

90' + 2'

GOAL!

Billy Dennehy scores for Shamrock Rovers.

90'
There will be four minutes of injury time.

87'

Yellow Card

Corie Treacy goes in the book for something he said.

87'

GOAL!

Great shot by Jeffrey Judge gets a goal back for Limerick.

83'
Good cross from Derek O'Brien and Kerrea Gilbert conceeds a corner. Rovers clear as Limerick are reduced to hitting high balls into the Rovers box.

82'
I'm going with 1200 as tonight's estimate of the attendance.

80'

Substitution

Killian Brennan comes off allowing Stephen Rice to come onto the pitch for the last 10 minutes.

78'
The goal came from substitute Gary O'Neill playing a ball through for Ciarán Kilduff to run onto. Pat Purcell was outpaced by Kilduff and with Barry Ryan advancing Kilduff's touch squeezed under the Limerick 'keeper. That allowed Kilduff just to roll the ball into the empty goal as Purcell desperately tried to get back.

78'

GOAL!

Ciaran Kilduff scores for Shamrock Rovers.

76'
Good throw from Rory Gaffney causing difficulty in the Rovers box but it goes out for a Rovers goal kick.

75'

Substitution

Thomas Stewart comes off for Rovers and Gary O'Neill comes on.

74'
Ken Oman puts the ball into his own net but the ball had gone out before Denis Behan crossed it in.

71'

Substitution

Derek O'Brien comes on for Limerick in place of Stephen Bradley.

70'
Good work by Rory Gaffney down the right for Limerick but his cross is claimed by Reyaad Pieterse fairly easily.

69'
Limerick have it all to do in the last period of the game. Otherwise it will be a Drogheda United v Shamrock Rovers final. United beat Sligo Rovers 2-1 earlier today.

66'
Great goal from Shamrock Rovers from Ciarán Kilduff. It started with Ken Oman playing the ball wide on the left with the outside of his boot to Billy Dennehy. Dennehy played a one-two with Ronan Finn and the wingers cross was finished by Kilduff who had timed his run really well to score. 2-0 to the Hoops.

66'

GOAL!

Ciaran Kilduff scores for Shamrock Rovers.

66'
Ronan Finn earns a corner off Shane Tracy and the ball is pinging around the LImerick box before it is cleared.

65'
Shane Tracy puts a free into the box and it coms to Rory Gaffney. Gaffney's centre requires Killian Brennan to head clear for a corner. Limerick can't exploit the corner that Stephen Bradley plays in.

63'
Nice bit of play from Rovers with Thomas Stewart linking up with Kerrea Gilbert and then Billy Dennehy but the Kerryman's shot goes wide.

61'
Rovers break with Billy Dennehy but Joe Gamble pulls him back and goes into the book for the foul.

60'
Limerick have had a couple of chances to put frees in the box but Limerick can't make use of Stephen Bradley's deliveries.

58'
Rovers make their first change. The goalscorer Sean Gannon comes off and Ronan Finn comes on.

56'

Substitution

Rory Gaffney comes on as Steve McGann makes way.

56'
Shane Tracy gets a cross in that Sean Gannon clears for a Limerick corner. Tracy will take but Foley heads wide.

55'
Thomas Stewart holds off Purcell and gets a shot in on the LImerick goal. Heads towards the Dublin mountains.

52'
Billy Dennehy taken down by Limerick's Corrie Treacy in the box and this time Stephen Kenny is the manager who can't believe he hasn't got a penalty. The play goes on.

49'
Limerick's Stephen Bradley beats Sean Gannon and his centre has to be dealt with by Conor Powell. His header clears for the Hoops.

48'

Substitution

Killian Brennan and Robert Kluciar bang into another and the LImerick defender looks to be in a bad way. Play has stopped and the stretcher is out. He doesn't look too bad but Limerick will make a change. Former Shamrock Rovers player Corrie Treacy comes on.

46'

Second Half

Second half has started...

45'

Half Time

We had one minute of injury time and the ref blows it up and the home side lead 1-0 thanks to Sean Gannon's 23rd minute goal. Bit of debate whether that was Gannon's first senior goal. He certainly scored for Rovers in the Leinster Senior Cup earlier in the season.

44'
Big shout for a penalty as Denis Behan gets on the end of a long ball. It is a heavy challenge from Reyaad Pieterse but referee says play on. Pat Scully won't be happy. The Limerick manager was adamant his team deserved a penalty when the sides met earlier in the season in the FAI Cup.

42'
The subsequent Rovers free is moved quickly from Killian Brennan to Conor McCormack to Kerrea Gilbert. The Londerer swings it in but Pat Purcell gets up well under pressure from Ciarán Kilduff. Another corner to the Hoops.

40'

Yellow Card

Shane Tracy takes down Rovers' Billy Dennehy and he picks up a yellow card.

39'
Nearly an own goal into the Limerick goal. A Killian Brennan corner came all the way to Jeffrey Judge. He had time to clear but sliced the clearance back towards his own goal. Corner came from Ciarán Kilduff when he outpaced Pat Purcell on the left.

37'
No false number nine, diamond midfield, three at the back nor lone stiker tonight. Both teams lining out with traditional 4-4-2 formations.

35'
These teams met in this competition back in 2006. Limerick won the game, played in Hogan Park, 1-0. Days later Rovers lost a semi-final of the FAI Cup to Dundalk and Damien Richardson didn't last much longer as manager at Rovers.

33'

Yellow Card

Ken Oman goes in the book. It was a yellow could have been a red. It came from Denis Behan charging down Reyaad Pieterse when the ball was played back to the South African 'keeper. The ball fell between Oman and Foley and Oman took him down. Stephen Bradley wastes the free kick.

31'

Yellow Card

Jeffrey Judge goes in heavy on Killian Brennan and it is a foul. Bit of verbals after and he talks himself into Paul Tuite's book.

30'
Thomas Stewart feeds Billy Dennehy for Rovers but he doesn't get a clean connection with his left and slices it wide.

28'
Conor McCormack playes the ball into Thomas Stewart with this back to goal. The former Linfield and Partick Thistle player spins but his shot doesn't trouble Barry Ryan in the Blues goal.

26'
These teams met earlier in the season in the FAI Cup with Rovers winning 1-0. Pat Scully felt after the game that his team were hard done by that night. They couldn't find a way back from going a goal down that night. Can they get back tonight? We shall see.

23'
Goal came from a Ciarán Kilduff flick from a Conor Powell pass on from the left. Killian Brennan ran onto it and his low left foot cross came all the way to Sean Gannon. He side foots the ball low into the new beating Barry Ryan.

23'

GOAL!

Sean Gannon scores for Shamrock Rovers.

22'
Colin Hawkins' sister is programme manager over at the London 2012 Olympics where she is involved at senior level with the volunteer programme at the games. Over 30,000 volunteers involved in the games.

21'
Denis Behan gets free on the right and his shot takes a deflection off Colin Hawkins for a corner. Hawkins then clears the corner.

19'
Limerick captain Pat Purcell fouls Killian Brennan and he will play it into box with his left. It comes to Sean Gannon but he is off side.

14'
East Stand opposite us here is closed tonight. Enough space in the main stand for both sets of fans. Limerick played in front of 20,000+ last night against Man City.

11'
Dom Foley gets the first shot away from a Denis Behan pass. Reyaad Pieterse dives full length, his pink jersey flashing away to our right but the ball is wide of his goal.

10'
Paul Tuite is our referee this evening.

8'
Ciarán Kilduff making his first start of the season for Rovers. As expected it is Gilbert and Powell at the back with Sean Gannon in midfield on the right.

6'
Early exchanges have seen Rovers throw a free crosses into the box. First through Dennehy but Limerick have dealt with them well.

1'

GAME ON!

The game is now underway

0'
It is nine changes for Shamrock Rovers from their 2-0 win over UCD on Friday night. Pat Scully has picked seven of the team that started in last night's friendly against Manchester City. That game in Thomond Park ended 4-0 to the English champions with Edin Dzecko.

0'
The Limerick line up has former Hoops Barry Ryan (in goal) and Stephen Bradley (in midfield). Pat Scully includes Joe Gamble, Denis Behan and Dom Foley in their starting line. 15 minutes to kick off as we will start at the earlier time of 19:00 this evening.

0'
There is your much changed Shamrock Rovers team. Reyaad Pieterse comes in for Rovers in goal. Sean Gannon will probably play in midfield along with Billy Dennehy, Killian Brennan and Conor McCormack. Ken Oman will captain Rovers and partner Colin Hawkins at the back. Up front is Ciaran Kilduff and Thomas Stewart (making his return home debut for the Hoops).

0'
The press box is a bit emptier (and the stadium will be too) from last Thursday when Tallaght Stadium hosted St. Pat's and Hannover 96. Gone are the fancy German electronic advertising hoardings as well.

0'
Good evening from Tallaght Stadium for tonight's EA Sports Cup semi final that sees Shamrock Rovers take on Limerick FC. Macdara Ferris (@macdarabueller) on duty here for extratime.ie. I will be giving you updates tonight and a match report to follow later on.
