FULL TIME!

So Matthew Blinkhorn's late header is enough to send Sligo Rovers into the FAI Cup Final, deserved win for the Bit O' Red but a very spirited display by Waterford United. That's all from me folks, I hope you enjoyed following the game and have a good weekend!

84'

Substitution

Is there to be any late drama here in this semi-final? Waterford have removed Grincell and Waters for Gary Dunphy and Declan Woodgate.

76'

GOAL!

Deserved goal for Sligo. Substitute Owen Morrisson crosses to the far post and Blinkhorn beats Kenny Browne in the air to head past Burns, excellent header. Relief reigns at the Showgrounds as Sligo finally beat the inspired Waterford goalkeeper.

67'
How are Sligo not in the lead? A ball is swung into the Waterford box beautifully from deep and finds Blinkhorn in space between the Waterford centre-halves but he heads wide when he really should have done much better.

63'
Three minutes later an even better chance is met with an even better save! A Sligo corner is whipped in from the left and Gavin Peers rises majestically only to see Burns' left-hand spring out and deny his bullet header. Stunning from the fledgling goalkeeper!

60'
The best chance of the game arrives on the hour mark and falls to the home side. The quiet Rafa Cretaro feeds Matthew Blinkhorn on the edge of the six-yard box and the striker turns beautifully but is denied by the feet of burns. Good save!

59'

Yellow Card

The Hand of God makes an appearance in Sligo! Vinny Sullivan rises from Waterford's first corner of the game to get in front of Kelly and palm the ball into the net. Needless to say the referee is having none of it and promptly books the Waterford man.

57'

Substitution

Richie Ryan replaces Danny Ventre for the Bit O' Red.

53'
John Kearney hits a low drive from distance that Ciaran Kelly parries to the side of his goal. Grincell is on hand to clip the ball back across for Sullivan who claims his header hit a Sligo arm but it would have been harsh.

46'

Second Half

Waterford get us underway here for the second-half of a tense Cup semi-final.

45'

Half Time

And there's the half-time whistle. Nothing much to report really, not even half-chances on offer. I still stand by my prediction that this will turn into a high-scoring free-flowing classic...ok so maybe I'm a little less sure than I was earlier.

44'
Approaching half-time now at the Showgrounds and this game has become very scrappy, neither side are in control. Waterford have had plenty of long-range attempts which have failed to trouble the Sligo goal and the hosts in turn are struggling to open up a stubborn Blues back-line.

36'

Yellow Card

John Kearney is the first Waterford man in the book after clumsily going through the back of a Sligo player while challenging for a header.

28'

Yellow Card

And O' Grady is followed almost immediately by team-mate Danny Ventre. The defender booked for dissent after Sligo concede a free-kick to the left of their box.

27'

Yellow Card

Conor O' Grady is the first player to see yellow tonight after trying some GAA style control with his hand in the centre-circle.

26'
Technical difficulties are preventing the Waterford team being put onto the site at the moment so I'll run through it here. Burns; Kearney, Long, Browne, Murray; Warren, Waters, Cummins, Grant; Sullivan, Grincell.

16'
Glorious chance for the visitors to take the lead. Vinny Sullivan swings an inviting ball in from the left and Graham Cummins beats the 'keeper in the air, but sees his header just clear the Sligo crossbar.

14'
Waterford growing into the game in the last few minutes and beginning to work the ball aound the pitch. David Grincell has tame left-foot shot from the edge of the box which is easily gathered.

2'
Eoin Doyle cuts in from the left for Sligo and his rasping drive is splendidly tipped over by 19 year-old Waterford goalkeeper Kevin Burns, the youngster standing in tonight for the suspended Michael Devine. Waterford easily clear the resulting corner.

The Sligo Rovers team is named and we have it available. Of course no Brush in goal tonight so Ciaran Kelly deputises.
