90' + 3'

FULL TIME!

It's all over here and it's Waterford United who are firmly in the driving seat.

90' + 2'
Darragh Walsh should've made it 3-0 but he blasts his effort over the bar from Sean Maguire's cross.

90' + 1'

Yellow Card

Longford defender Gary Cronin gets his name in the referee's book.

90'
Karl Bermingham's fantastic ball into the box was excellently cleared away by the head of Stephen Mulcahy. Great defending because it could've easily went into his own goal.

90'
4th official's borard has gone up and we'll have at least three additional minutes at the end of this game. Waterford just need to soak up the pressure.

86'
Mark Salmon forces Packie Holden into making a terrific save. First time that the Waterford keeper has really been tested.

86'
Waterford can defend in numbers now because they are in total control.

85'
Final five minutes of the game and Longford really need to pull a goal back if they are to have any chance in this play-off.

82'

Substitution

Waterford Sub - Darragh Walsh is on for Peter Keegan.

80'
Gary Dempsey's free kick goes over the bar but it's not for a point. Soft enough free.

79'
I have to say that Austin Skelly has really made a difference since he was introduced. Karl Bermingham was so unlucky not to finish Skelly's cross to the net.

79'

Substitution

Longford Sub - Tony Cousins makes his final change; Daniel Purdy is on for Keith Gillespie.

78'
And Longford very nearly pull a goal back; Austin Skelly with an excellent ball across the face of goal but Karl Bermingham directs his header wide of the post.

77'

Substitution

Waterford Sub - Ben Ryan is on for Peter Higgins.

75'
Thomas Crawley whips in a neat ball into the box but it is cleared by Craig Burns; good defending.

71'
Longford have calls for a penalty turned down after it appeared that Karl Bermingham was pushed in the box when the ball was floated in. Big call from the Kerry referee.

70'
Longford break down the field with Keith Gillespie, Austin Skelly does very well to head the ball back but unfortunately Karl Bermingham wasn't there to finish it.

67'

Yellow Card

Mark Salmon fouls Sean Maguire and the Longford midfielder receives a yellow.

66'

Substitution

Longford Sub - Austin Skelly is now on for Alan Kirby.

64'
It looks like Longford are going to introduce Austin Skelly. The striker was sent-off from the bench down in the RSC a few weeks ago.

63'
Paul Phelan forces Longford keeper Craig Hyland into making a fantastic save. It was a stinging shot from Phelan.

61'

Yellow Card

Waterford defender John Frost gets booked for a foul on Robert Bayly.

60'
If Longford are to have any chance of advancing in this play-off they really need to pull a goal back here. Waterford can sit back and defend because they have a two goal lead.

59'
Longford have a free-kick which Alan Kirby takes but the ball floats straight into the open arms of Waterford keeper Packie Holden.

57'
Thomas Crawley has a chance for Longford but fluffs his effort, loose ball falls to Mark Salmon but the ball is cleared by the Waterford defence.

55'
Just heard the attendance here is 550. People up here have lost interest in their side of late and I'm not surprised there isn't a great turnout here.

52'

GOAL!

From that free Craig Burns gets to the end of it and heads back Longford keeper Craig Hyland. Woeful marking again by the Longford defence. Waterford very much in the driving seat now.

52'
Waterford have a free-kick which will be taken by Gary Dempsey.

47'
I'm glad I went down to the clubhouse at the break. Got to see former Longford manager Stephen Kenny (who is still popular with the supporters) and another former player Cathal Brady (now with Drogheda) and his dad. Great to see those people still have an interest in Longford.

46'

Substitution

Longford Sub - The Town make their first change; Karl Bermingham comes on for Tony Griffiths.

46'

Second Half

And the second-half is underway here.

45' + 1'

Half Time

Half-time here and it's advantage Waterford.

45'
One minute of additional time to be played here at the end of the half.

40'
Peter White tries his luck from just outside the box after receiving the ball from Sean Maguire but his effort goes over the bar.

36'
Holden easily gathers the corner kick. The goalkeeper hasn't really been tested tonight.

36'
Thoms Crawley whips the ball into the box and it's put out for another Longford corner.

31'
Longford's play in the final third is really letting them down. Mark Salmon had a chance of creating something but his effort let him down with a Waterford defender putting the ball out for a throw-in.

28'
Longford have enjoyed the majority of possession but still trail by that early Keegan goal. It was a real blow for them.

26'
Just after seeing former Longford player Sean Prunty come in. Former Longford kitman and now photographer Fergus McNally is here too. Also heard that Paul McNally and Vinny Perth were here too; two players who were firm favourites with supporters during their time here.

22'
Longford really miss the threat of Daniel Purdy and Gary Shaw up front; both players really hit some scoring form before they got injured.

21'
Keith Gillespie plays the ball to Noel Haverty who makes for the endline; Paul Phelan put in a great tackle to put the ball out for a corner. Nothing comes of that kick.

20'
Plenty of Blues flags behind the goals that the Town are playing into in this half. Both sets of supporters showing off their artistic skills.

19'
Waterford have shown just how dangerous they are and Longford can't afford to switch-off.

17'
Waterford break and very nearly double their advantage; a powerful strike by Peter Keegan that was superbly tipped onto the crossbar by Longford keeper Craig Hyland. Great safe and a let-off for Longford.

17'
Tony Griffiths has a chance for Longford but doesn't trouble Packie Holden.

15'
It's nice to look out from the pressbox here and see the banners over in Section O. Credit to the lads and lassies who have added a bit of colour to that side of the ground.

14'
Referee Kevin O'Regan had a bit of a blonde moment here and didn't know which side the throw-in was for; chaning his mind a few times before he awards it to the home side. Is that what the linesman is for?

13'
Longford are putting the pressure on Waterford but the Blues are defending in numbers.

11'
The former Utd player had a very good start to the season but his form has dipped a little. Town will be looking to him to help them overcome Waterford.

10'
Keith Gillespie shows some silky skills to turn two defenders and put a neat ball into the box which Packie Holden gets down to gather.

8'
Mark Salmon plays the ball over to Gary Cronin who takes a shot from distance which David Breen puts out for a corner. Thomas Crawley had a header from the corner which goes wide.

5'
Longford come into this game on the back of four successive defeats. They'll say this game is different but I feel you need to bring some form into games like this. Though they are very akin to cup finals. Look what happened in 2004; Waterford got the early goal but Longford scored 2 to win the FAI Cup. Alan Kirby was on target that day. Can he get on the scoresheet tonight?

3'
That goal caught everyone including the Longford defence off guard.

1'

GOAL!

What a start by Waterford Utd. Peter White with the goal here with less than a minute played.

1'

GAME ON!

Waterford United get us underway at Flancare Park.

0'
Teams are now out and the atmosphere is electric. There is a decent crowd here and plenty of noisy supporters from Waterford.

0'
We are joined in the press box tonight by Town's Gary Shaw who is taking up a career in radio; he's on local radio tonight.

0'
Longford Town have really been hit by injury of late and are without Michael Lee for this game. Sub keeper Paul Hunt is also ruled out while Karl Bermingham is on the bench. The good news is that Daniel Purdy makes the bench after being out for a number of months with a broken ankle.

0'
This is Waterford Utd's fifth time playing in the play-offs and they've yet to win any. Longford Town were in the play-off back in 2002 when they were a Premier Division side. They beat Finn Harps up in Ballybofey in a sudden death penalty shoot-out. Great night for Town fans but I don't think my nerves could take anything like that again.

0'
There has been a real buzz about the place for this game and I've noticed a few Town supporters who had lapsed in recent seasons have returned to Flancare for this evening's game.

0'
I'm going to have a double dose of commentary here tonight. We have local station Shannonside and then WLR both covering the game live. Have to say the lads at WLR have got to be some of my fave reporters to come to Flancare. My good friend Adrian Flanagan is out on the pitch, he'll be bringing the views from the Waterford bench throughout the game.

0'
Good evening and welcome to Flancare Park for this evening's massive game between Longford Town and Waterford Utd. Teams are in the system, the press box is full and we are all set for kick-off.
