FULL TIME!

It's all over here at the RSC. Waterford just about deserve that win, coming courtesy of a Gary Dempsey free-kick. SD Galway were never out of the game but lacked quality in the final third. Goodnight folks!

89'

Substitution

SD Galway substitution: Brian Gaffney is injured and cannot continue. Charlie Burke is his replacement.

86'

Substitution

Waterford United substitution: Peter Keegan comes on in place of Willie John Kiely

82'
SD find space down the left and, after a poor headed clearance, Brian Gaffney heads straight at Holden to the relief of the home fans.

76'
Mikey Gilmore beats his man but can't guide his effort inside Holden's far post.

74'

Substitution

SD Galway substitution: Ronan Conlon is replaced by Eduardo Dusi.

72'
The home side very much in control now in the final 20 minutes. Seamus Long fires a volley beyond Grant's far post. The killer second goal still eludes Waterford.

69'
Close for Waterford, as Gary Dunphy's first attempt is blocked and his second is dragged inches wide of the far post.

62'
Blues boss Paul O'Brien has taken to wearing a wooly hat for the second-45, it's verging on Siberian weather here in the 'sunny' South-East.

58'
The second-half is virtually unrecognisable from the first, other than the fact both teams have switched ends. Scrappy, scrappy, scrappy. Result still well in the balance despite Waterford's one goal lead.

52'
Ben Ryan draws a terrific low save from Liam Grant. Waterford's resulting corner comes to nothing.

48'

Yellow Card

Willie John Kiely is booked for Waterford United.

46'
Mike Tierney fires just wide of Packie Holden's near post.

Second Half

SD Galway get us back underway.

Half Time

The half-time whistle draws the opening 45 minutes to a close, a period which the home side edged and found the lead through an excellent Gary Dempsey free-kick; but this game is very much still in the balance, as the following last-ditch clearances have proved.

43'
It's a game of inches, as Al Pacino opined about a completely different sport. Seamus Long finds the ball drop to his feet seven yards in the melee following a Waterford corner and Ronan Conlon blocks off the line and wide.

40'
And now it's Waterford's turn to not quite get the cigar. Peter Higgins is played through on goal but his attempted dink over Grant is blocked down by the onrushing 'keeper.

37'
That word strikes again: 'almost' for the visitors. Enda Curran has space to shoot against the post from just inside the box and Mernagh throws himself at the striker's rebounded effort to clear the danger to the home goal.

34'
PAUL CAREY AT IT AGAIN. The full-back produces, for the second week in a row, a vital goal-line clearance - though this time it was certainly with his legs. SD Galway send over a corner from the left and Mikey Gilmore is the man who sees his header denied by Carey's Geordie Shore-loving frame.

31'
Greaney picks up a yellow for a foul on Dunphy and Gary Dempsey steps up to punish the visitors with a spectacular strike into the top corner from 25 yards.

30'

GOAL!

Gary Dempsey scores for Waterford United.

29'

Yellow Card

Eugene Greaney is booked for SD Galway.

27'
'Almost' a great goal from Waterford. I'm using that word too much. The Blues exchange short passes down the right, before Willie John Kiely cuts a ball back to Gary Dunphy on the edge of the box - the midfielder controls on his thigh before lashing a volley just wide of Grant's post.

25'
Half-chance for SD Galway as their first corner of the game is swung over by Brian Gaffney and it takes an absolutely superb defensive header from Seamus Long to deny Tommy Bradshaw.

23'
It's been quite a scrappy game thus far, though Waterford have edged it. No goals or clear chances to report.

19'
Good work from Phelan down the left flank as he beats his man and crosses to the back post once more for Ryan, who again heads high - this time the ball drops into the outstretched arms of Liam Grant.

18'

Yellow Card

Dylan Mernagh is booked for Waterford United.

15'
Waterford enjoying most of the possession in the opening stages here but are struggling to create any real openings. Most of their play thus far has been designed to get in behind the Galway full-backs.

13'
Corner from the right for Waterford, delivered deep by Paul Phelan. The visitors do well to clear the danger but still can't get a foothold in the game.

10'
Nothing much to report as we reach the ten minute mark but, wait... Dylan Mernagh gets down the left and swings over a ball to the back post for Ben Ryan, whose header goes well over.

5'
The aforementioned Waterford programme also features a picture accompanying Carey's interview and Limerick fans should look away now. The snap clearly reveals that the defender's crucial goal-line clearance last week was with his right-arm. And not one of those 'by his side' jobs either - the arm is outstretched.

2'
Waterford are playing in their traditional all-blue kits, while SD Galway are sporting an all-white number that must be a nightmare for all the players' mammies.

GAME ON!

The home side get us underway.

Anyone remember when Waterford were beaten 6-0 against Wexford in the first game of the season? Nobody in the RSC seems to; the atmosphere is much changed to last week's vibe and thank Ganesh for that.

0'
As we await the emergence of both teams, let us pray to all available deities for a game as high in excitement as last week's outing.

0'
Tonight's match programme features a '20 Questions' feature with Blues full-back Paul Carey. And after last week's revelation that Seamus Long's guilty pleasure is 'Keeping Up With The Kardashians', we now learn that Carey is a fan of 'Geordie Shore'. What a place that Waterford dressing room must be, scholars all!

The teams are in and, as always, can be found flanking these beautifully succint and devestatingly accurate updates.

[Johnny Cash voice] Hello, I'm Dean Hayes [/Johnny Cash voice]. Waterford United -v- SD Galway is tonight's game at the R.S.C and after an astonishing performance last week against champions-elect Limerick, can the home side make it back-to-back wins in front of their home fans?
