Bohemians will be hoping to make it four league wins out of four as
they welcome Paul Cook’s Sligo Rovers side to Dalymount Park on Friday
night. (Kick-off 7.45)
Bohs beat Sporting Fingal, UCD and Drogheda United in their opening three league fixtures but should face a stern test against Sligo, who are coming off the back of a 1-0 win over Galway United.
New signing Joseph Ndo will not be involved for The Bit O’Red as clearance has not come through yet after completing a switch to Rovers earlier in the week. Bohs manager Pat Fenlon was full of praise for his former player.
“I’m delighted that Joseph is playing in the league. He is one of the best players to play in the league in my time. But I’ll be happy enough if he is not playing for Sligo on Friday.”
The two teams met seven times last season in three competitions, Bohs winning four times, Sligo twice, with one draw. The game should also see former Sligo favourite Rafael Cretaro come up against his old club, if he can shake off a persistent calf injury.
Rovers have had mixed results in their opening three game. They had two consecutive 1-1 draws with Shamrock Rovers and Sporting Fingal and bagged their first win of the campaign with a 1-0 victory against Galway last Saturday.
Rovers became known as a “bogey team” for Bohs last season and will be hoping to keep up this reputation with another good performance at the home of the champions on Friday night.
Paul Cook has a relatively full squad to chose from bar Paul Whelan who was is out injured, while Pat Fenlon has injury concerns going into the game with Killian Brennan, Anto Murphy and Cretaro all facing late fitness tests.
Last season’s encounters between these teams were often lively and competitive affairs and it should be the same on Friday as both teams will be looking to continue their good run of form.
