He enriched so many lives through football - Tributes pour in as Jack Charlton passes away

Tributes are pouring in across the internet today to mark the death of former Ireland manager and English World Cup winner Jack Charlton.
Big Jack, as he was affectionately known as, passed away peacefully yesterday at the age of 85.
Jack was a bigger than life individual as one of his grandchildren and ITV news correspondent wrote on twitter this morning: “He enriched so many lives through football, friendship and family. He was a kind, funny and thoroughly genuine man and our family will miss him enormously.”

Paul McGrath who played under Jack and maintained an extremely close relationship with his manager, with the two men attending the Aviva Stadium together as recently as in 2015, wrote: “Father figure to me for 10 years. Thanks for having faith in me. Sleep well Jack.”

Former Irish international and current U18 Republic of Ireland Head Coach Andy Reid said that Jack Charlton “started something that we are all part of” in relation to the legacy the Englishman continues to have on the game in this country.

Manchester United defender Harry Maguire also joined the tributes by writing: “Sad to hear 1966 England World Cup winner Jack Charlton has passed away. Condolences to his wife Pat, Sir Bobby and the Charlton family.”
