Stephen Murray and Conall McGrandles sign new Portadown contracts

Recently promoted Northern Ireland Premiership side Portadown have confirmed that Conall McGrandles & Stephen Murray have signed new two-year contracts with the club.

McGrandles will remain at Shamrock Park until 2022 after joining the club in 2019 from Warrenpoint Town.

The former Cliftonville and Larne star made 23 appearances last season for Portadown, scoring four goals for the club.

“Conall has been a brilliant addition to our squad & over the last year has given us some memorable moments including kick starting our comeback at Ards & also the last gasp winner v Loughgall,” Ports boss Matthew Tipton said.

“He is a tremendous character both on & off the field, so I had no hesitation in getting him back on board for two more years.”

Also signing a new deal is Stephen Murray who joined the club in 2019 from Glenavon.  Before the season was halted in March, he made six appearances and scored two goals for the club.

“Stephen was just hitting his stride when lockdown arrived in March, but I think he showed enough class to get everyone excited for more to come,” Tipton added.

“Certainly I know this having worked with him previously at Premier league level & looking at his record last season where he finished as top scorer for Glenavon I have no doubt we will get to see many more performances to come from Stephen over the next 2 years.”

Meanwhile in the Northern Irish Premiership, Gavin Smith, Deane Watters, Emmet Hughes, Ciaran McCann and Mark Mc Kee have all left Warrenpoint Town.

Elsewhere, Newry City have signed Thomas Lockhart and Jimmy Walker.
