Inter Milan's Europa League game with Ludogorets to take place behind closed doors due to coronavirus fears

Thursday night’s Europa League last 32 tie between Inter Milano and Ludogorets will take place behind closed doors as a precaution following the spread of coronavirus to north Italy.

Local authorities have made the decision after confirming that five Serie A games, including Inter’s trip to champions Juventus, will also take place without fans present.

Heath authorities across Europe have taken measures to limit public exposure, with the IRFU confirming on Wednesday that the Six Nations game between Ireland and Italy will be postponed.

A UEFA statement read: “Following the decisions of the Italian authorities, the UEFA Europa League match between FC Internazionale Milano and PFC Ludogorets Razgrad will be played behind closed doors at the Stadio San Siro in Milan on Thursday 27 February 2020.

“All other UEFA matches scheduled this week will go ahead as planned and at this time there are no restrictions for attending supporters.

“UEFA will continue to closely monitor the situation regarding Covid-19 and to liaise with relevant authorities in this respect.”
