Ryan Johansson pens six-year contract with Sevilla

Republic of Ireland underage prospect Ryan Johansson has signed a six-year deal with Spanish giants Sevilla after he brought an end to his spell with Bayern Munich.

The 18-year-old qualifies for Ireland through his mother, although this is being held up by FIFA currently who are investigating.

The central midfielder moved to the academy at French side FC Metz before joining FC Bayern München in the summer of 2017, where he played with the U17 and U19 sides.

He also played a part in the last two pre-season campaigns with the first team, while this season he has played with the under-19 side, featuring in 13 of the 14 league matches so far, scoring twice.

Johansson’s move will to Sevilla will see him join the club’s reserve side, who often train with the club’s first-team.

“It is a dream come true,” he said on signing for Sevilla.  “I think Sevilla is a perfect club for me at this point in my career and I hope to play for the first team very soon.

“It was a very easy decision for me to come here, where I can improve and help the team in the future.

“I think I can progress at first with the reserves and adapt myself to the club so I can make the first team, hopefully it's very soon.”
