Conor McDermott makes Cliftonville move permanent from Derry City

Cliftonville have unveiled the permanent acquisition of loanee Conor McDermott from Derry City.

The full-back joined the Reds on loan from the Candystripes in June – where he has suitably impressed at Solitude.

Since making the move to the Belfast outfit, McDermott has made 25 appearances for his new side – scoring twice.

His debut goal for the club came in July’s comfortable 4-0 win over Barry Town in the Europa League.

His second came months later, and it was more than worth the wait.

After taking possession just inside the Reds’ half, McDermott nonchalantly flicked the ball over the head of Warrenpoint Town skipper Alan O’Sullivan before unleashing a sensational long-range chip beyond goalkeeper Berraat Turker.

The goal has naturally been named as the Irish League’s November Goal of the Month by the NI Football Writers’ Association.

McDermott has signed a deal that will keep him at the club until the summer of 2023.
