Jogi Low’s Germany lead the group on 18 points ahead of the visit of Northern Ireland on Tuesday, two points ahead of the Dutch, who host Estonia on the same day.

Croatia fought from a goal down at the break to beat Slovakia 3-1 in Rijeka, thanks to goals from Nikola Vlasic, Bruno Petkovic and Ivan Perisic.

Robert Bozenik had given the away side the lead just past the half-hour but the dismissal of Robert Mak midway through the second half sealed their fate.

Wales and Hungary face off on Tuesday with the winner guaranteed automatic qualification, however Slovakia could still clinch second if that game finishes level and they beat Azerbaijan.

And Austria secured second place as they saw off the challenge of North Macedonia in Vienna thanks to first-half goals from David Alaba and Stefan Lainer.

Vlatko Stojanovski scored a consolation for North Macedonia in second-half injury time and Austria held on to clinch second ahead of Slovenia, who beat Latvia 1-0.

Finland, Sweden and Croatia booked their spots in the finals on Friday night while Belgium, Italy, Russia, Poland, Ukraine, Spain, Turkey, France, England and the Czech Republic take the total number of qualified teams to 16.
