Dan Carr hits back at Stephen Bradley's 'bigger than the club' comments

Dan Carr has hit back at former boss Stephen Bradley after the Shamrock Rovers manager suggested he ‘felt he was bigger’ than the club.

The Trinidadian striker sealed a move to Rovers’ Europa League conquerors Apollon Limassol on Monday, signing a three-year deal with the Cypriot club.

Speaking to RTÉ following the Hoops’ 5-1 league win over Waterford, Bradley intimated the striker had attempted to engineer a move away from the club.

“When representatives tell you that maybe his heart is not in playing for Shamrock Rovers, he’s not the right fit for you,” Bradley said.

"People maybe think we needed to sell but we didn’t like what we heard, this club and this team and what we’re doing and what we’re building is bigger than any individual.

"This club is a special club and it’s bigger than any one individual and unfortunately, that individual just felt he was a little bit bigger than us."

Carr hit back in a Twitter post on Tuesday, calling Bradley’s comments ‘bollocks’ and affirming that he was never anything other than fully committed.

“What a load of bollocks,” he wrote.

“Never once thought I was bigger than this club that gave me so much! Always gave my all for the club and will always be apart [sic] of me! Very untrue and disrespectful!!!”

Apollon face PSV Eindhoven in the Europa League play-off round and Carr will be eligible for the group stages should his teammates navigate their way past the Dutch side.
