DLR Waves sign Ireland international goalkeeper Eve Badana

DLR Waves have announced the signing of Republic of Ireland international goalkeeper Eve Badana for the remainder of the Women’s National League season.

The 26-year-old will compete with another new signing, former Wexford Youths keeper Sophie Lenehan, for the number one shirt following the departure of Erica Turner.

Badana has three senior caps for the Republic of Ireland, having made her debut against Hungary during the 2012 Algarve Cup in a 1-0 loss.

The Canadian-born goalkeeper was also selected for the Canadian squad that travelled to the 2010 FIFA under-17 World Cup while she was playing for Toronto Lynx.

During that tournament they were beaten 3-0 by the Republic of Ireland in Trinidad and Tobago and Badana was an unused sub for all three games.

The goalkeeper played college soccer in the United States for Drexel University in Philadelphia from 2011 to 2015 where she captained the side for three seasons.

She signed for Cork City towards the end of the 2016 season and competed with fellow international Amanda Budden before leaving for work reasons at the end of 2018.
