Longford Town unveil capture of Dylan Grimes to bolster attacking options

First Division title-chasers Longford Town have confirmed the capture of former Shelbourne attacking threat Dylan Grimes.

Grimes joins De Town from Sheriff YC having left Shels in August 2018 due to a lack of game time.

The 21-year-old follows in the footsteps of Longford Town winger Peter Hopkins who was also once of the Dublin inner city side.

Whilst at the Reds, Grimes made his senior debut for the club 2015 under current Drogheda United assistant boss Kevin Doherty.

Speaking to LTFC.ie, Grimes noted that the style of paly was a key factor in enticing him to the City Calling Stadium

“One of the reasons I decided to sign for Longford is that Neale (Fenn) imposes on the team a style of play I enjoy, the right way to play football.”

The former Shels wide man added; “The club has a great chance of winning the league so I hope to help in any way I can.

“To go and win the First Division and gain automatic promotion to the Premier Division is the main goal.”

Manager Neale Fenn added when speaking to Shannonside FM; “Dylan is a tricky player; he’s got an eye for goal he’s good at set pieces. He can play anywhere across the midfield and at 10.”

“He’s very skilful and I’m hopeful he will be a very good signing for us.”
