Junior Ogedi-Uzokwe extends Derry City loan deal

Derry City have confirmed that midfielder Junior Ogedi-Uzokwe has extended his loan deal with the club until the end of the season.

Junior has established himself as a fans favourite at the Ryan McBride Brandywell Stadium since his arrival from Colchester United.

Since joining the Candystripes, the 25-year-old has made 20 appearances for the club with three goals to his name.

Speaking with Derry City’s media team, the former Millwall youth noted he was happy to extend his stay at the club until the end of the season.

“I really like it here- everyone has been good to me and it’s a great bunch of lads to play with.”

“Declan is very good to work with and the boys all want to play for him.”

“We can look forward to cracking on in the second half of the season now and it’s good that we still have plenty to play for.”

Derry City boss Declan added: “Junior is a fantastic player- he is great on the ball and has become a real threat for us in the first half of the season.

“He is capable of giving you that something different and is a handful for any defence.”

“We’re delighted that Colchester have agreed to let him stay on and we thank them for that. I believe that Junior will benefit a lot from his experience playing at this level.”
