FAI await UEFA report into 'betting patterns' in Limerick's win over Cobh Ramblers

The FAI have confirmed they are awaiting a report from UEFA into ‘betting patterns’ surrounding Saturday’s First Division game between Cobh Ramblers and Limerick.

Limerick ran out 3-2 winners at St Colman’s Park thanks to a late Darren Murphy penalty, having seen a 2-0 half-time lead clawed back.

Cobh’s board met on Sunday morning and subsequently released a statement confirming they had submitted a formal request to the FAI for an investigation.

The statement read: “As of yesterday morning we have formally requested the Football Association of Ireland to investigate. The club will assist the FAI with their enquiries.”

The association is also investigating betting patterns surrounding the Blues’ 2-0 defeat to Shelbourne at Tolka Park

"We have received a UEFA report on the Shelbourne v Limerick fixture in April and are awaiting their report on the Cobh v Limerick game last Saturday,” said FAI competitions director Fran Gavin.

"We have received correspondence from the Cobh Ramblers Board in relation to that match. The FAI remains committed to a zero tolerance stance on match fixing."
