The Extratime.ie Sportscast Episode 144 - Bucko goes Native (Interview: Daire O'Connor)

With no Monday matches to attend for a change, two of our extratime.ie team got together on the May Bank Holiday Monday to record the latest Sportscast (listen here).

Declan Marron and Macdara Ferris chatted about the managerial situation at Cork City following John Caulfield’s departure and they spoke with City player Daire O’Connor.

He talked about his time with the Students where the month of May is a time when exams are juggled with matches, his switch to full time football and the step up to the Premier Division.

He also talked about the change in atmosphere in Cork with John Caufield gone from his managerial role and how O’Connor has fared playing at clubs with different footballing philosophies.

There is a discussion on the decent run of results for the sides at the wrong end of the Premier Division table – with four wins for the bottom five sides over the weekend.

The lads discuss a poor iTunes review which turns out to be a good review and we have our usual recommended read.

This week it is an interview in TheIrish Sun with the former FAI Honorary treasurer Eddie Murray and his belief that “the sports media in this country are poison, pure f***ing poison.”

Liam Buckley meanwhile was raising the heckles of Hoops fans with his language in his programme notes from the ‘clash of the Rovers’ in Sligo last Saturday night.

‘Coach Buckley’ masterminded a deserved 2-1 win over the team he previously played and managed but this notes ahead of the game are not a recommended read for any Hoops fans.

We had to get out the bleep machine not to cause further offense to supporters of the Tallaght based club!
