extratime.ie Sportscast Episode 140 - No Disqualification in Ballybofey

On this week's extratime.ie Sportscast, host Declan Marron and senior reporter Macdara Ferris, amongst a bit too much wrestling talk, discuss how this season's title challenge is shaping up (2.11).

With Shamrock Rovers eight points clear of second placed Bohemians and ten clear of serial league winners Dundalk having played two games more, Macdara declares the Hoops “in the title race” and, even after St. Patrick’s Athletic’s win last week over the Lilywhites, he is fairly dismissive of the Saints’ title chances - fan mail from Inchicore is no doubt on the way to extratime.ie HQ.

There is also the sad scenes at Ballybofey involving an x-rated red card tackle and a dressingroom mess (31.57), the EA Sports Cup quarter-final draw (34.19) and a somewhat negative reaction in Irish media to the success of Limerick born WWE star Becky Lynch in Wrestlemania (36.16).

Our main interview this week is with another Limerick star Shane Tracy. He dials in (15.33) to talk about Limerick’s great start to the season and his differing roles over the dozen seasons he has spent at the club.

We also preview this week’s Oireachtas TV blockbuster (Vodafone/Virgin Media Channel 207), where John Delaney will be a central member of the FAI cast (9.53) and we discuss FAI President Donal Conway’s 11 paragraph statement from Monday that includes this eye-catching line:

“We also advised that some recent comments made by the FAI did not accurately reflect the Board’s level of awareness of the existence of the €100,000 issue in 2017.”

Should make Wednesday’s events in Leinster House even more entertaining.
