League Report: Bray Wanderers 1-0 Cobh Ramblers

Gareth Danaher reports from the Carlisle Grounds

Joe Doyle's first half goal saw Bray take all three points against Cobh Ramblers and got top of the First Division table on a chilly Friday evening at the Carlisle Grounds.

Bray came into this game looking to get back to winning ways after their surprise defeat against Wexford last week.

They certainly got off on the better foot as Dean O’Halloran curled in a cross to find Dylan McGlade whose half-volley was comfortably saved by Adam Mylod in the Cobh goal.

Wanderers had a number of chances in the early stages of the game with Joe Doyle flashing his header wide on 14 minutes after Barnett’s cross from the left flank.

Cobh slowly began to come into the match. Jaze Kabia fired off a spectacular effort from 25 yards out but Gabriel Sava was able to save.

Bray’s previous efforts paid off on the 24th minute as Phillip Gannon shot from just outside the danger area. Mylod fumbled the shot which spilled to Bray’s forward man Joe Doyle and he broke the deadlock.

Bray went in at the break on top but Stephen Henderson must of gave a fiery team talk as Cobh came out the better side early on. Ian Turner pelted an effort from just outside the box, but Sava comfortably saved it. Cobh certainly weren’t sitting back.

On the 55th minute most spectators thought Bray would go two up as Dean O’Halloran played a neat pass in behind the Cobh defence for Doyle but his weak shot was fired straight at Mylod with the goal at his mercy.

They missed another chance to double their lead in the 72nd minute as ‘keeper Mylod played the ball out of his own area to only find Bray Derek Daly. The Bray skipper shot at the goal but his effort just curled wide.

Cobh tired in the final minutes as Bray maintained the possession to see out the game out as 1-0 winners on the night.
