League Preview: Bray Wanderers -v- Limerick

BRAY WANDERERS

Bray Wanderers got life in the First Division off to the perfect start with a comprehensive 3-0 opening day win over Cabinteely at Stradbrook.

The Seagulls finished bottom of the Premier Division last season picking up just eighteen points but will be targeting a quick promotion back to the top table this season.

It was a busy off season by the seaside with Sean Heaney the only player remaining in the squad after last season and exciting players like Dylan McGlade and Paul Keegan arriving in the door.

McGlade helped himself to two goals in last week’s opener and will certainly be one to watch this season in the league.

LIMERICK

It has been a turbulent few years for all associated with Limerick F.C and following last season’s relegation they must now start again and rebuild towards the future.

There have been positive early season signs already with a local consortium agreeing to buy the club, kit sponsors coming on board and a hard fought opening day point against Longford Town.

They will hope to build on that this evening when they travel to face Bray Wanderers, a team who they faced in the Premier Division last season with both sides being relegated.

Limerick got the better of Bray in all four league games last season and another positive result off the back of a well-deserved point at home to Longford is exactly what’s needed to get their promotion bid off to the healthiest of starts.

Referee: David Dunne.

MATCH STATS

Bray’s home record at the Carlisle Grounds made for pretty grim reading last season with the Seagulls picking up just five wins from eighteen league games contributing to the side’s eventual relegation.

Limerick’s away record was poor too with Tommy Barrett’s side managing just four wins from eighteen league games resulting in his side also being relegated to Division One last season.
