Bohemians sign defender Aaron Barry on loan from Cork City

Bohemians have signed defender Aaron Barry on a six-month loan from Cork City as they put the finishing touches on their squad for 2019.

The Wicklow native joined the Leesiders ahead of the 2018 campaign but has struggled for consistent gametime at Turner’s Cross.

26-year-old Barry is an experienced operator at Premier Division level, having four seasons with Derry City prior to his move to Cork, and will be an experienced voice in a callow Bohs squad.

“Aaron is an experienced left-sided centre-back who I believe is a great fit for us at this time,” manager Keith Long told the club’s media team.

“He is someone who will help our younger players adapt to what is a very tough league.

“I would also like to thank the board of directors for making this signing happen. Their continued support of me and the team needs to be acknowledged.”

Barry joined Sheffield United from schoolbou club Arklow Town as a teenager but, following a loan spell with Dumbarton in 2013, he left the following year and signed for Derry.
