Bohemians sign former Scotland under-19 midfielder Scott Allardice from Dundee United

Bohemians have announced the signing of former Scotland under-19 international Scott Allardice ahead of the 2019 season.

The 20-year-old joins Keith Long’s side from Scottish Championship side Dundee United after a trial period with the Gypsies earlier this month.

The midfielder spent nine years with the Terrors, where he broke into their first team as well as enjoying loan spells in Scottish League One with East Fife and Dumbarton.

“He’s had other opportunities in Ireland so we’re delighted to get him in,” manager Keith Long told the club’s website.

“Initially, he had been someone we looked as someone we might bring in on loan so we’re delighted to be able to sign him on a permanent basis for the season.

“He’s a defensive midfielder, good on the ball and can play at the back too.

“He’s never played League of Ireland football before so, like a number of our new players, it will take time to find his feet so we have to be patient.

“But he does have the benefit of having played first-team football though. He’s played for Dundee United’s first team and has had successful loan spells.

“He’s a sensible young lad who is very driven and has made a conscious decision to move country to progress his career.”

Allardice will have to forgo making his debut during Bohemians Irn-Bru Cup quarter-final on Saturday as he is cup-tied having lined out for Dumbarton earlier in the competition.
