Defender Kevin McHattie joins Inverness Caledonian Thistle after parting company with Derry City

Defender Kevin McHattie has signed for Scottish Championship side Inverness Caledonian Thistle on a short-term deal until the summer after leaving Derry City.

The 25-year-old left-back signed for the Candystripes midway through the 2018 season but opted to move on following the departure of manager Kenny Shiels.

Former Scotland under-21 international McHattie made 11 appearances for the Candystripes as they fell to a disappointing eighth-place finish in the Premier Division, prompting Shiels’ departure.

The versatile defender came through the youth ranks at Dunfermline United before making the switch to Hearts in 2010.

He made 72 appearances for the Jam Tarts before moving to Kilmarnock in 2011, following a short loan period with Alloa Athletic, before joining Raith Rovers in 2016.

McHattie joined the Candystripes on a short-term deal in August 2018 and was ever-present in the league, bar a one-game ban following his red card in a 3-2 defeat to Dundalk in September.
