Evan Moran joins Dungannon Swifts

Former Bray Wanderers goalkeeper Evan Moran has joined Danske Bank Premier League side Dungannon Swifts.

Moran joins forces the Swifts just days after the club’s win over Cliftonville in the Irish Cup at Solitude. Seanan Clucas scored the winner for Kris Lindsay’s side.

While Bray eventually succumbed to relegation last season, Moran often was the side’s standout performer, with his efforts often keeping the score-line down as the Seagulls suffered throughout the 2018 campaign.

With 19 Premier Division appearances to his name at the Carlisle Grounds, Moran, the former Republic of Ireland under-18 International has made the move up north to join Dungannon, who are tenth in the Danske Bank Premiership.

Moran noted that he was intrigued to join Kris Lindsay’s side after the initial contact arrived for the 21-year-old shot-stopper.

“I got a phone call from Kris (Lindsay) asking me was I interested in coming up to training,” said Moran. “I jumped at the chance as I’d heard good things about Dungannon.

“I came down last week and took part in a training session. I loved the set up. I loved the training and I really feel it’s a great club for me to get involved with. I’m looking forward to getting down to playing games and see where the rest of the season takes us.”

Manager Kris Lindsay added: “I’m delighted to have Evan on board. He’s a young goalkeeper but he has experience and played a few games for Bray Wanderers, last season, in the League of Ireland.

“Hopefully Alex (Moore) and Evan can push each other forward and battle it out for the number one spot. It should be great competition for them both as they are both young, exciting, and very talented prospects.”
