20-year-old Scottish defender Josh Kerr has joined Derry City on a six-month loan deal from Premier League side Brighton and Hove Albion.
The arrival of the former Glasgow Celtic youngster to the Ryan McBride Brandywell Stadium will be a welcome acquisition to Declan Devine and his coaching team who will be looking to right the wrongs of a miserable end to the 2018 campaign on Foyleside.
The 20-year-old has experience in Europe with Celtic and is hoping that he can utilise his previous experience to help him get more experienced as the months progress on Foyleside.
“I genuinely didn’t know what I was coming in for, but I have been pleasantly surprised.” Kerr admitted.
“I think it’s vital for a young centre-back like me to get experience, you’ve to get your games and you can only get better with experience.”
New Derry City boss Declan Devine added; “Josh has been on the radar for a while. [He] ticks all the boxes for us in terms of age profile, background, ability and presence.
“Everybody’s coming here for the right reasons, everyone’s coming here with a point to prove and are determined to play.”
