Shane O’Connor commits to his fourth year at St Colman’s Park

28-year-old midfielder Shane O’Connor has re-signed with Cobh Ramblers for his fourth year at the club.

O’Connor joined the Rams initially following spells with Liverpool, Ipswich Town, Shamrock Rovers, Cork City and Limerick FC in 2015.

During O’Connor’s second season at the club, he helped the Rams on their way to Playoffs with Drogheda proving to hold the edge over a rejuvenated Cobh Ramblers eventually.

In 2017, O’Connor joined Waterford FC where the Blues won promotion at the expense of his previous employers.

Following promotion in 2017, the now 28-year-old midfielder joined Longford Town prior to the start of the 2018 campaign but, after struggling with injury, O’Connor returned to the Rams during the summer transfer window.

On his return to St Colman’s Park, the former Rockmount schoolboy led the Rams to their first ever National Cup Final against Derry City in the EA Sports Cup Final.

“I’m delighted to sign back with Ramblers.” O’Connor told the club’s official media team.

“Hendo has put together a nice squad and hopefully we’ll be in a nice position to compete with the top teams in the league. It was great to reach a national final last year and we want to build on that.”
