Striker Cian Leonard signs back with Cobh Ramblers for 2019

Cobh Ramblers have announced that forward Cian Leonard has signed back for a third season at St Colman’s Park.

19-year-old Leonard first joined Cobh midway through the 2017 season, having previously played for Cork City’s under-17 and under-19 sides.

Leonard, who scored twice in 2017 in wins over Longford Town and Shelbourne, has made 34 appearances for the club in those 18 months.

He scored four times last year for Cobh, as Steven Henderson’s side finished eighth in the First Division.

The teenager’s four goals came in four different league games, a 2-2 draw away to Longford, a 5-1 defeat to Drogheda United, and 1-0 wins over Cabinteely and Finn Harps.

Leonard expressed his delight at signing back with Cobh, calling the decision a ‘no brainer,’ as Cobh looks to make a push for promotion.

“I’m really excited to be back with Cobh this season,” Leonard told the club’s official website.

“ We’re hoping to improve on last year and really make a push for promotion. It was a no brainer for me to sign back really and the club is heading in the right direction.

“The team is coming along well with lots of good players involved and I can’t wait for the season to start.”
