Trio re-sign for Drogheda United

After the recent announcement that Tim Clancy would remain in charge at Drogheda United, the Trim native has begun building his squad for the 2019 season.

Conor Kane, Chris Lyons and Sean Brennan have all re-signed with the Boynesiders for another season under the management of Clancy.

20-year-old Kane, who was named in the PFAI First Division Team of the Season, is heading into his third year with Drogheda after signing from St. Patrick’s Athletic ahead of the 2017 season.

Chris Lyons was signed in December 2017 from Shelbourne, joining up with former teammate at Bray Wanderers and Sligo Rovers, Clancy, and his former manager from his time at Sligo, Dave Robertson, who is now Director of Football at Drogheda.

Lyons would go on to have his best goalscoring season to date, netting eight times in 29 appearances, including the winning penalty in the FAI Cup win over Shamrock Rovers and Drogheda’s second goal in the second leg of their play-off against Shelbourne.

Drogheda native Sean Brennan, who was vice-captain to Jake Hyland for the 2018 season, was like Kane, named in the PFAI First Division Team of the Season.

Brennan was also awarded Player of the Year and Player's Player of the Year at Drogheda United in 2018.

The 2018 season was Brennan's fifth in senior football for Drogheda but his most successful in front of goal for the Louth club after scoring twelve times in 27 appearances.
