Niall McCabe bags an assist as Lousville City see off James Chambers' Bethlehem Steel in USL play-offs

Niall McCabe grabbed an assist as Louisville City reached the USL Eastern Conference final with a 2-0 win over James Chambers' Bethlehem Steel.

Louisville will face New York Red Bulls II in the final in a replay of last season's conference decder after the MLS side's reserve team beat Cincinnati.

Cincinnati, featuring ex-Dundalk man Paddy Barrett and former Sligo Rovers midfielder Richie Ryan, were edged out 1-0 on home turf.

Louisville finished second in the regular season standings, behind Cincinatti, while Bethlehem finished fifth.

And they proved too strong for the Pennsylvania side, who beat Pittsburgh Riverhounds in the quarters on penalties, with a goal in either half from Brian Ownby.

Louisville took the lead 11 minutes before the break when Oscar Jimenez latched onto McCabe's pass and squared for Ownby to slot the ball in the corner.

And Ownby doubled his tally – and Louisville's – just before the hour as he ran on to McCabe's through ball and beat Jake McGuire from the edge of the box.
