Watch: Rory Patterson scores and misses Panenka penalty on Crusaders debut
Rory Patterson had an eventful league debut for his new side Crusaders as he netted and badly miscued a Panenka-style penalty in a 4-2 win over Ards.
The former Northern Ireland international striker made the switch from Derry City last week after falling behind new signing Ally Roy in the Brandywell pecking order.
And with Crusaders going full-time this season, the defending league champions were only too happy to welcome the prolific striker on board.
Michael Carvill had already given the Crues the lead midway through the first half when Patterson struck on the half-hour when he received the ball in the box before finding the net on the turn.
Patterson's debut took a turn for the worse late in the first half when he stepped up to take a penalty and clipped a Panenka-style shot well over the bar.
New Crusaders signing Rory Patterson is having quite the Debut so far...

Crusaders had to work for their win, however, as a goal either side of half-time from Gareth Tommons levelled matters before Jordan Forsyth and Declan Caddell settled Crues nerves.
