Hoban picks up player of the month award

Patrick Hoban’s form during the month of June has helped him scoop the SSE Airtricty League / Soccer Writers Association of Ireland Player of the Month award.

His incredible return for the season to date stands at 21 goals in just 25 games, a huge contributing factor towards Dundalk’s current league position at the top of the table.

Hoban has taken the league by storm this season in terms of finding the back of the net. Since returning from his spell in the UK, where he spent time with Oxford United, Mansfield Town and two loan deals with Stevenage and Grimsby, the 26-year-old Galwegian has shot to the top of the goal scoring charts.

“It’s great, the gaffer told me on Sunday and it’s a great feeling to win one”, said Hoban after finding out about his latest achievement.

"Personally, it means that you're doing something right but it also shows the whole team are working well together.

"We're scoring goals and winning football matches, and that comes from the team around you."

Hoban’s teammater midfielder Robbie Benson finished in second place for the award with Kieran Sadlier of close rivals Cork City rounding out the top three.
