Celtic sign 16-year-old Irish prodigy Armstrong Okoflex from Arsenal

Celtic have completed the signing of 16-year-old Republic of Ireland underage international Armstrong Okoflex after the teenage prodigy left Arsenal.

The Dublin native has spent the past five years in London with the Gunners after attracting significant cross-channel attention for his schoolboy performances with St Kevin's Boys.

The news was, bizarrely, leaked when an image displaying the words “Armstrong Okoflex, welcome to Celtic” was spotted on the Celtic Park big screen and an image posted on Twitter.

Okoflex made seven appearances for the Gunners' under-18 side last season but wasn't involved in pre-season, where Unai Emery replacing Arsene Wenger may change the club's long-standing youth policy.

Teenager Okoflex has represented by Ireland and England up through the age grades and is also eligible to represent Nigeria through parentage.

Okoflex last represented Ireland at under-16 level last October, scoring against Scotland in the Victory Shield, but subsequently represented England under-16s in February of this year.
