Cork GAA star Emma Farmer returns to Cork City

Cork City have announced the return of former captain Emma Farmer to the club following a five-year absence.
The former Ireland under-19 international spent two seasons with Cork Women's FC – the forerunner to the current club – before leaving to concentrate on GAA.
24-year-old Farmer played for Cork Women's in the inaugural Women's National League season in 2011-12 and was made captain the following year.
She left at the end of the 2012-13 season, and the Aghada clubwoman has gone on to win five All-Ireland championships and one club All-Ireland.
“It’s great to be involved with Cork City,” Farmer told the club's official website upon her unveiling.
“The club are making great strides in the right direction and I’m really looking forward to being a part of this.
“The results so far have been mixed but I am hoping to make a big impact on the team.”
There is some symmetry in Farmer's decision, as Saturday saw current City striker Saoirse Noonan score 2-2 on her debut as Cork regained the Munster championship from Kerry.
