Ireland internationals Katie McCabe and Louise Quinn sign new Arsenal deals

Republic of Ireland internationals Katie McCabe and Louise Quinn have each signed new deals with English Women's Super League club Arsenal.

The duo were part of a resurgent Arsenal side that finished third in the Women's Super League – just one point behind Manchester City and a potential Champions League berth.

The Gunners also reached the final of the FA Cup, where they were beaten 3-1 by double-winners Chelsea in front of more than 45,000 spectators.

Winger McCabe joined the club from Shelbourne during the winter of 2015 but it wasn't until this season, under Joe Montemurro, that she established herself as a regular starter.

She was made captain of her country at the age of 21 and has relished in the role of responsibility as Ireland mounted their best World Cup qualification effort yet.

Following a stint on loan with Glasgow City in late 2017, McCabe established herself as a regular a left-back, a position she briefly took up during Ireland's World Cup defeat in Norway last wek.

Defender Quinn arrived from Eskilstuna United – via a brief stint with Notts County before they folded on the eve of the season – early last year and quickly broke into the team.

The 28-year-old has won more than 60 caps for her country and recently began a stint as a Men's World Cup pundit for RTÉ.

“Katie and Louise are both very talented players,” Arsenal manager Joe Montemurro told the club's official website upon their unveiling.

“They both bring so much to our squad. Louise is a strong, talented and committed defender and Katie is a technical and intelligent player.

“We are delighted that they have chosen to sign new contracts with us.”
