Arsenal and Chelsea to head for Dublin for International Champions Cup fixture

Arsenal will take on Chelsea at the Aviva Stadium on Wednesday, August 1st as part of the International Champions Cup.

The announcement was made this morning by multi-national sports and entertainment group RELEVANT alongside club legends Ray Parlour and Tor Andre Flo.

The match will take place as part of the International Champions Cup and with it being played so close to the start of the new Premier League season, it is expected that a lot of the pairs top stars will be on show for the fans of both clubs as managers finalise preparations before the real competitive action gets underway.

The match will mark the 3rd time that an International Champions Cup game is held in Ireland and the second time to the Aviva Stadium and will be just one of 27 matches that will take place across the United States, Singapore and Europe.

As part of the event RELEVANT will also be coming together with As I Am, Ireland’s leading autism charity and they will be the official charity partner for the match.

“It’s a great honour to be travelling around the world with Arsenal Football Club”, Ray Parlour said following the announcement.

“I’m looking forward to the match in Dublin and also to the tournament overall.

“There is always a great atmosphere in Dublin and with Irish fans and I’m sure past players like David O’Leary and Liam Brady’s involvement at Arsenal, this will result in a great following and support for this game in Dublin”

Tor Andre Flo was also involved with the launch and having played here in 2003 with Norway, he is excited about returning again with Chelsea as part of the pre –season preparations in August.

“I played here in Dublin with Norway in 2003 when the stadium was a lot different.” he said as he looked forward to the game.

“There is always a great atmosphere for games in Dublin and amongst Irish fans and I think it will act as a very important game for both teams as it is played so close to the start of the new Premier League season.

“It will be great for the fans of both clubs as with the game being played so close to the start of the new season, I think we can expect that both managers will bring as strong a squad as possible to Dublin for this game.”
