Héry and Akinade sign new deals with Waterford

Waterford midfielder Bastian Héry and striker Ismahil Akinade have signed new deals at the club to keep them at the RSC until the end of the 2019 season.

Héry and Akinade signed from Limerick and Bohemians respectively at the start of the season and have helped the club to a fantastic position in their first season back in the top flight.

The Blues currently sit third in the table and occupying a European place with just over half the season played.

“Since I’ve come to the club, I have really enjoyed my football,” said midfielder Héry following the announcement.

“Everything is set up and ready to go for the club to move forward and I want nothing more than to be part of that.

“There is a great team of people, both staff and players, here. I am happy to stay and keep working for this club.”

Akinade was also in great spirits following the news and says he is honoured to remain at the club.

“I’m happy to be back at the club for next season because it's only going one place and that's the top.

“It was a new challenge to me coming here having left Dublin but I must say I've enjoyed every minute here.

“The dressing room, the fans, the facilities are all brilliant. I’m really looking forward to the future and honoured to be part of it moving forward.”

Waterford welcome St Patrick's Athletic to the RSC on Friday night (kick-off 7.45pm) as they look for another win to further boost their chances of European football next season.
