Watch: Cabinteely's Jack Watson downs former club UCD with shot from just past halfway

Cabinteely midfielder Jack Watson returned to haunt his old club as he scored from the centre circle and set the home side on their way to a 2-0 win over UCD.

Friday night rightly led us to marvel at this near-100-yard injury-time finish from Cork City's Kieran Sadlier at Richmond Park.

Watson's goal wasn't quite so impressive in terms of the length of the strike but it completed a remarkable night for spectacular strikes in the League of Ireland.

The Students' deputy goalkeeper Carl Williams came a long way out of his box to make a clearance, which fell straight to Watson, and the Carlow man took full advantage.

Another mix-up in defence involving Williams – in in place of the injured Conor Kearns – allowed Luke Clucas to double the lead shortly after with his first goal for the club.
