O'Gorman and Beirne recalled as Ireland squad named for crucial World Cup qualifiers

International player of the year Harriet Scott and Stephanie Roche are among the notable omissions from the Ireland squad to face Slovakia and the Netherland in crucial World Cup qualifiers next month.

Scott misses out with a collarbone injury and Roche continues to recover from a knee injury sustained in training, while Manchester City full back Megan Campbell is also a long-term absentee.

Peamount United striker Áine O'Gorman makes her long-awaited return to international football after a six-month absence.

O'Gorman sustained medial ligament damaged sustained in the opening qualification win over Northern Ireland in Lurgan in September and only recently returned to club action.

Among those players recalled to the squad are Megan Connolly of Florida State University and UCD Waves striker Dearbhaile Beirne, while Sion Swifts midfielder Amy Boyle-Carr could also see action for the first time after travelling with the squad to Portugal in January.

Ireland face Slovakia and European champions the Netherlands in a double-header at Tallaght Stadium on April 6th and April 10th.
