Lee-J Lynch signs for American side FC Arizona after leaving Limerick

Former Limerick midfielder Lee-J Lynch has signed a deal with American club FC Arizona following his departure from the Blues at the end of the 2017 season.

The midfielder was unveiled by incoming manager Maxi Viera alongside Colombian midfielder Kevin Riascos at a Fans Forum on Monday night.

26-year-old Lynch has signed a deal of an undisclosed length after his contract with Limerick expired at the end of last season.

Arizona compete in the National Premier Soccer League, the regionalised third tier of North American football, and topped their conference in 2017.

“I'm really happy to be here,” Lynch said at the Fans Forum in Chandler, Arizona.

“I flew in last night. I spoke with Scott [Taylor, owner] over the last couple of weeks.

“I was out of contract in Ireland, and he spoke to me about the plans for the future for FC Arizona and I really bought into it and what Maxi is trying to do here.

“They really have a good philosophy of football here and hopefully we can take that onto the field next week and push on and have a better season than last season.”

Lynch was a trainee with West Brom as a teenager before returning home to sign for Drogheda United in the summer of 2011.

He signed for Sligo Rovers the following season and helped the Bit o' Red to their first league title in 35 years during his two-season stint at the Showgrounds.

He signed for then-champions St Patrick's Athletic the following season but joined Limerick for the first time that summer, and from there signed for Scottish Premiership side Hamilton Academical.

Following a short stint with the South Lanarkshire side, Lynch returned to Limerick and spent a further two-and-a-half seasons with the Blues before leaving at the end of last year.
