NIFL Premiership side Glenavon have announced the signing of Eric Foley from fellow Irish League side Glentoran.

The 28-year-old negotiated his release from The Glens last night just prior to the midnight transfer deadline.

The midfielder had a lengthy career in the League of Ireland with spells at Sporting Fingal, Shelbourne, Monaghan United, Drogheda United, Athlone Town and Galway United before moving to Glentoran in 2016.

In a statement on his Twitter account Foley said: “Release papers signed…just want to thank and wish everyone at Glentoran FC the very best for the future. It’s been a pleasure and my honour.”
