Longford Town sign midfielder Shane O'Connor from Waterford

Longford Town have announced the signing of former Ipswich Town defender Shane O’Connor on a one-year deal.

Neale Fenn has been consistently making improvements to his first team squad at Longford Town following his arrival in June of last year and this signing bolsters his squad ahead of the upcoming First Division campaign.

27-year-old O’Connor joins the Red and Black having won the First Division last season with Waterford.

The Corkonian helped the Blues back to the Premier Division after a ten-year absence with 23 appearances and four goals for Alan Reynolds' side.

The former Liverpool youth player is no stranger to League of Ireland football having enjoyed spells at Cobh Ramblers, Shamrock Rovers, Cork City and Limerick in the past.

O’Connor joins Neale Fenn’s charges as the 19th member of Fenn’s First Team squad ahead of the 2018 First Division campaign at the City Calling Stadium.

O’Connor will be in contention for a starting berth in Longford’s first game of the season which is a home game against his former side Cobh Ramblers side on the 24th of February.
