Ireland under-19 international Keeva Keenan makes the move across Glasgow to Celtic

Republic of Ireland under-19 defender Keeva Keenan has left Glasgow City to join cross-city rivals Celtic.

20-year-old Keenan, who was called up to the senior international squad for last year's 1-0 victory over Slovakia, has spent the past 18 months with the Scottish champions.

She helped Scotland's most successful club win back-to-back titles in that time, playing alongside compatriots Noelle Murray, Katie McCabe and Savannah McCarthy.

The move to Celtic will see her join up with another Irish international in Ruesha Littlejohn as the Celts look to improve on last season's third-place finish.

“As a Celtic supporter, I’m thrilled to be joining the club and playing alongside Irish internationalist Ruesha Littlejohn as well as the other great players in the squad,” Keenan told the club's website.

“The standards in Scotland and Ireland are similar, but I’ve found the games to be more competitive here. I was looking for a change for the new season and am delighted to have signed for Celtic.”

Keenan began her senior career with Raheny United in 2014 and was part of the side that reached the last 32 of the Champions League that season.

She stayed with the club after they merged with Shelbourne and helped Casey McQuillan's side lift the Women's National League Cup and a second-place finish in the league before joining Glasgow.
