Ciaran Kelly signs for Drogheda United

Drogheda United have completed the signing of 19-year-old defender Ciaran Kelly from St. Patrick’s Athletic.

Kelly is Drogheda United manager Tim Clancy's eleventh signing for 2018 and came through Pat's youth system, being a regular for their U19 side last season.

The teenager made his senior debut for the Saints in October 2016 as a late substitute in a 5-2 league victory over Dundalk at Richmond Park.

The centre-back made two appearances for Pats' first team last season, both in the Leinster Senior Cup, against Firhouse Clover and Shelbourne.

Kelly continues the trend of players moving from playing with St. Patrick’s Athletic’s U19 side to Drogheda United with Colm Deasy, Conor Kane and Shane Elworthy all playing at United Park in recent seasons.

Both Deasy and Kane have already committed to Drogheda for 2018 while Elworthy joined Longford Town last month.
