Darren Meenan and Evan Galvin sign for Longford Town

Longford Town have rung in the New Year with the double signing of formShamrock Rovers winger Darren Meenan and Cabinteely midfielder Evan Galvin.

Having been subject to plenty of recent speculation that a move to free-spending Belgian Fourth Division side RDWM was imminent, Meenan seems to have pulled the plug on that potential move as he has decided to join up with Neale Fenn and Longford for 2018.

Meenan has plenty of experience that he can look to call on next season as the 31-year-old winger has played for no less than ten League of Ireland clubs in his 11 years at this level with the likes of UCD, Dundalk, St. Patrick’s Athletic, Drogheda United, Sligo Rovers and Shelbourne some of his previous clubs.

Also joining forces with Town is former Cabinteely midfielder Evan Galvin who has swapped Stradbrook in the capital for the City Calling Stadium in the midlands.

He made 21 league appearances for Cabo in their record-breaking season at League of Ireland level, scoring one goal for Pat Devlin’s men in a thrilling 3-3 draw away to Athlone Town back in March.

The double signing of Galvin and Meenan brings Longford Town’s squad for 2018 up to 15 as Neale Fenn looks to build a squad capable of challenging for promotion back to the Premier Division after De Town suffered the pain of relegation to the First Division at the end of the 2016 campaign.
