Watch: Michael Doyle scores spectacular long-range as Coventry City promotion bid continues

Coventry City's quest for promotion from League Two continued on Saturday with a hard-fought 3-2 win over Wycombe Wanderers that leaves them one point off the automatic promotion places.

Key to that win was midfielder Michael Doyle – an ever-present since moving from promoted Portsmouth in the summer – and his spectacular opening goal.

The Dubliner netted his second goal of the season with just 14 minutes on the clock when he looped a hopeful effort from all of 40 yards in the direction of the Wycombe goal.

The ball sailed above the backtracking keeper Scott Brown and dipped enough to bounce in off the underside of the crossbar to set City on their way to victory.

The win saw the Sky Blues leapfrog their opponents into fourth place in the table with exactly half the season elapsed.
